The FRG® KO on C57Bl/6 background was originally reported by Azuma et. al. in 2007. Since then it has become a staple model for liver humanization and is well suited for studies in infectious disease, drug metabolism, toxicology, and cancer biology. The animals weigh 22 grams on average and have a typical lifespan of 18–24 months. Engraftment is sustained over the life of the animal with an appropriate regimen of CuRx™ Nitisinone (20-0026) and prophylactic treatment of SMX/TMP antibiotics (20-0037).
These pathogen-free animals are available as repopulated models with either human, C57Bl/6, or ROSA hepatocytes and can be purchased for use in your facility or as part of a study run at Yecuris™ facilities. Breeding colonies are available under license from Yecuris™. List prices serve as base price for the models and are subject to change depending on customer requirements. Yecuris is fully equipped to run metabolism and toxicology studies with both labeled and unlabeled compounds. Our metabolic caging can be used for studies that require single animal isolation.

Our next generation model, the FRG® KO on the NOD background was developed to promote the engraftment of both liver and hematopoietic systems. We currently offer these animals as liver repopulated models only and are optimizing the dual system for commercial launch. The animals weigh 28 grams on average and have a typical lifespan of 18-24 months. Engraftment is sustained over the life of the animal with an appropriate regimen of CuRx™ Nitisinone (20-0026) and prophylactic treatment of SMX/TMP antibiotics (20-0037).
